The Block 5 concession is limited vertically to include strata
above the Permian Khuff Formation.The current development
is targeting the Creatceous Kharaib B,Shuaiba and Nahr Umr

The Cretaceous interval is dominated by carbonates,with
intermittent marls and occasional siliciclastics.The carbonate
formations are generally muddy to very fine grained and
tightly cemented.Porous packstone and grainstone reservoir
intervals are developed locally.Microporosity dominates,
although locally vuggy and other types of macroporosity
occur.Rarely,dissolution enlarged,cavernous porosity is
developed (e.g.Lower Tertiary Umm Er Rhaduma Formation)
and may lead to total loss of drilling fluid.
