Bicycles return to Beijing police on patrol in the capital city again. It is a new rule for the police there.
About one third of the police in Beijing started to patrol on 1,600 bicycles or eletric bicycles last October.The rule means to save energy and reduce air pollution. The policemen on bicycles also have the duty to help the places where the traffic is too crowded.
During the past years, the police drove motor vehicles instead of riding bicycles. But when the traffic was very busy in rush hours,the police often couldn't reach the places quickly.Bicycles can help solve this problem.And also it can bring the police closer to people because the policemen by bicycle can stop more frequently
on the way while patrolling.
