可以这样理解，“让事物保留为它们原来的样子”，are后面代表的是事物的原貌，即表语，那么中间应该用系动词。不知道这样说能否理解= =

A选项taking为非谓语，做题当中应注意谓语与非谓语的辨析，因为句子后面有连词and 所以是两个句子的并列，这个时候不能用非谓语，因为非谓语只是短语，不是句子。
