不是时间状语从句.此处while是连词,表转折,用法跟although类似,“虽然,尽管”
while三用法：
1.引导时间状语从句.“当.之时”
例如：While I was talking,the teacher came in and spotted me.
当我正在聊天之时,老师进来看到了.
2.表示比较,或对比.“而”
He likes Dota,while I like Plants vs Zombies.
他喜欢魔兽,而我喜欢植物大战僵尸.
3.表转折.“虽然,尽管”

while引导的时间状语从句，不用进行时也不算错，但很少很少见。我大学语法课上，这样是允许的。但如果你是初高中，为了应试，那就严格遵循——while引导的时间状语从句用进行时。 表转折，你这个“放开头”什么意思？ i don't konw them well, while they are my neighbours. 这个句子能改成：while they are my neighbours， i don't konw them well. 但是绝不能说：they are my neighbours while...... 我知道thouh（尽管）确实有这功能，可以后置为 they are my neighbours thouh. 这是因为though既可以做连词，也可以做副词，而副词的位置灵活多变。 但while和although不可以做副词。
