A survey carried out recently indicates that the health of Chinese youngsters is in decline, which deserves our great attention. Many health problems, such as obesity and short-sightedness, have arisen, making parents much concerned. Various factors account for this phenomenon. Above all, students’ pressure from heavy school work is to blame. The belief that grades mean everything has taken root in people’s mind. In order to live up to parents’ expectations, a considerable number of students bury themselves in books and they even stay up late to pursue good grades, thus giving rise to poor health resulting from lack of exercise and sleep. Apart from this, with fast-food restaurants springing up, some adolescents are addicted to fast-food which is by no means nutritious, contributing to many of them putting on weight.
From my point of view, we ought to give priority to students’ constitution(体质) , for society requires all-round young people. Therefore, some relevant educational reform is a must. We ought to lighten children’s heavy burden and guarantee they have sufficient time to take exercise and sleep. After all, it makes sense to achieve a balance between work and play.
