Mr Morison looks worried these days.Something is wrong with Bill’s eyes.He took the little boy to a hospital.The doctor looked him over and said the boy needed an operation.His wife is often ill and can’t work.His two daughters are at school.Sometimes his family have little food and he has no money to pay for the operation.
“Why not go and borrow some money from Mr Hunt?” said Mrs Morison.“You helped him before.”
Mr Hunt has a lot of money.But the man never helps anybody.So he has few friends in the village and nobody likes him.Mr Morison was afraid his friends would know about it.So he went to the man’s house in the evening.
“I want to ask you for a favour,but can you keep it secret for me?”
“Certainly.”
“My son needs an operation,Mr Hunt,” said Mr Morison.“Or,he will be blind.Will you please lend some money to me?”
“Oh,don’t worry,Mr Morison,” said the rich man.“I’ll take it as if(好像) I didn’t hear you.”
