课文原文：When the fire had at last been put out,the forest authorities ordered several tons of a special type of grass-seed which would grow quickly.The seed was sprayed over the ground in huge quantities by planes.The planes had been planting seed for nearly a month.其中,seed几次出现,最后一句里的seed明显为之前出现的seed,应该可以加the,但文中却没用定冠词,不知应怎样理解?

因为后来的seed都不是单用了,是词组搭配使用,自然不需要加定冠词
之前第二句the seed做主语不是加了the 吗
虎门一句是 planting seed 这里就不需要重复加了
