When the plane was waiting at the airport a huge snake climbed up the steps and into the plane without being noticed. It went to sleep under the pilot’s seat. passengers liked the music. They complained to the hostess, who asked Mary to stop.
The sound of the plane’s engine woke up the snake. It stuck its head out and looked around the captain’s room. The captain saw the snake and was nearly frightened out of his life. He was so afraid of being bitten that he could not control the plane, which started to swing dangerously from side to side. The hostess told the passengers what was happening and asked them to clam down. Mary was not afraid. She ran to the captain’s room with her whistle and began to a slow tune. Immediately the snake followed her. The girl returned to her seat and the snake lay on the floor beside her, swaying (摇摆) to the music.
When the plane finally landed at the airport the snake was taken away in a net. From then on Mary often went to visit the snake in a zoo near her house.
