My experiece in learning English
I have learned English for nearly 12 years.I think the whole process can be divided in to three steps.The first step was that I was a teenage boy studying English in the middle school.The second one was that I learned English after I entered into the university.And the last step is now when I am preparing for the TOEFL and GRE.
It was the first time for me to get to English when I entered into the middle school.At that time I found it was so amazing that you could express your feelings in another language.Our English teacher taught us from the letters which were the foundation of English.After we knew all the letters,the teacher taught us English words and the simple conversations which were used in the daily life.In the middle school grammar was thought to be the most important of English.So we spent a lot of time on it to pass the entrance test of the university.
After I became a college student,I found that there were some differences between the English teaching of the college and that of the middle school.Although grammar was also a very important part of the English studying,reading ability was regarded as a keystone.Because it was not only important to improve our English but also useful for us to read academic articles.
During the first year of my graduate student life,I took part in the TOEFL.When I prepared for the test,I found that grammar was not so important as we thought.But the ability of listening,reading and writing was more important,because it was much more significant for a foreign student studying in the USA.
For the years of my English studying,I find that vocabulary and grammar is the base of English.We have to master them,and we must improve our English across-the-board at the base.
