Abstract: As we have entered a new century, the joint-stock commercial banks in China has generally gone through the carve periods and entered a new era full of competition and innovation. In the new situation, we have to study the new situation, seize new opportunities, find out new approaches and adopt new methods to solve new problems. In particular, we have to carefully study and analyze the current development stage the joint-stock commercial banks are in and the business environment facing them, and to make efforts in exploring new development strategy and tactics on the basis of complying with the laws of history, referring to actual business situation and grasping future development trend. It is suggested in this paper that the joint-stock commercial banks in China are in a very critical stage of development which urgently need to implement a series of financial innovations in order to promote and deepen the financial reform, and, on this basis, to achieve the sustainable development of joint-stock commercial banks.
