Future is whatever you make it
我认为这里不需要it,因为whatever引导了这个从句.
但是原句有it,请问为什么需要?
什么情况引导下不需要it?比如 future is the one (which) you make?

把它变成这样的句子就清楚了：
you make it whatever
whatever在这里是做it的宾语补足语.也就是这个结构：make A B相当于make A into B：将A变成B.
We made him our mornitor.我们选他当我们的班长.
You made your room a mess.你把房间弄得乱七八糟.

whatever只是一个连接词。不能作为一个宾语从句的主语。

Damn it!
it在这里是代替的主语future.
whatever是make的内容.
句中it肯定不能省略.
简单理解就是,前途在自己手中,
你想让它变成什么样就是什么样.
不需要it的情况下句意就不能这么理解了.
比如你的future is the one(which) you make?
搞不懂什么意思!...
