这句话里in which……不是宾语从句,是定语从句.which代表one,在从句中又作in的介词宾语,二者合起来作从句的地点状语,可用where代替.

in which 引导定语从句，修饰先行词one，而这个one代表前文提到的world。
之所以会是in which 而不是which，是因为从句中谓语were undermined in，原句可写成“…one which ……were undermined in”。若要换成that，直接将in which换成that。
