让我感到困惑的是：that 引导的从句,has not held on to the same job,意思是不能在同一份工作上坚持,可是for any length of time，短语的意思是“短暂而已”我觉得不是很通，如果后面改为：for a long time.我觉得更通顺一些.

for any length of time 一（小）段时间 eg: The patient cannot endure chemotherapy for any length of time. 病人对于化疗一会儿也不能忍受。 While sitting for any length of time, take frequent standing breaks to alleviate atrophy of the hamstring muscles. 坐了一段时间之后，时不时的站起来活动一下，可以避免腿部肌肉萎缩。
