1.What is worse,at present there is no restaurant in our hometown,making the demand for a restaurant strong.
2.Thus,more people in our community as well as surrounding community could find jobs to support their financial demand,making the surroundings harmonious and flourished.
两个句子当中都有 ,making .这个结构.请问这个是什么用法,是后置插入语么?

这里的making前面都是它的主语,是现在分词结构.相当于that makes,或者which makse.
这里省略that和which
为了避免一个句子的多个谓语,就用现在分词结构了,这个用法非常常见.

这样啊。。谢了。。不过你这么一说我又有疑问了 这个句子： What they could do is desperatly watching their son dying in the bed 这里面的 what they could do 也是句子充当主语吧，但是后面有BE动词 IS.。我前面给出的2个句子 如果是前面的句子当主语，那整个句子不是没动词了吗？ 我语法比较菜 请指教 谢谢

你问的很好。 What they could do is desperatly watching their son dying in the bed what 是is的主语，they could do只是用来说明waht的，不要管他。 前面的2个句子，也是的，What is worse, at present there is no restaurant in our hometown... 这里的there is 就是谓语了。如果这里的there is去掉，也是可以，那么后面就是makes了，就和你刚才给的句子是一样的。
