一个名词(或其它形式)对另一个名词或代词进行修饰,限定或说明,这个名词(或其它形式)就是同位语.同位语与被它限定的词的格要一致,并常常紧挨在一起.同位语是用来说明其内容的.例如The girls were surprised at the fact that ocean ships can sail up the Great lakes.

如果是同位语从句此次要把when改成that，此处用when时强调一个时间，应是时间状语从句

这是时间状语从句，不是定语从句，因为同位语从句中连接词不充当任何成分，在这里when是一个时间副词充当状语成分，不是对前者的修饰补充说明，所以不是同位语从句。又因when在这里不是对occasion的修饰限定，所以不是定语从句
