我在翻译《CHEMISTRY---- The central science》在7.5章发现几句话 似乎是矛盾的
首先是
A negative electron affinity means that the anion isstable; a positive electron affinity means that the anion is not stablerelative to the separated atom and electron,in which case its exact valuecannot be measured.
负的电子亲和能表明阴离子是稳定的;正的电子亲和能表明阴离子相对于分离原子和电子并不稳定,在这种情况下它的准确价态也不能被测量出来.
这句段话并没有问题,但是之后几句
In general,electron affinities become more negativeas we proceed from left to right across the periodic table.
通常来说,从元素周期表从左往右看,电子亲和能变得越来越负.
The halogens have the most-negative electronaffinities.
卤素拥有最负的电子亲和能.
那么我们都知道,卤素的第一电子亲和能是正值,而且是同周期中最大的,为何要说是most-negative呢?
同时还有一句
The electron affinities of the noble gases are positive because the added electron would have to occupy a new,higher-energysubshell.
稀有气体的电子亲和能是正的,因为新加入的电子会进入一个新的,更高能量的亚层.
那么稀有气体的电子亲和能显然是负值的,因为稀有气体的结构非常稳定,为什么又说是positive呢?
