起初 应该是in the beginning.它 和 at first接近,但有区别,因为它往往带有 “以后情况发生了变化”这个含义,和其反义语一样,后不接of--短语
at the beginning,指的是在.开始的时候,故后面一般接of 短语,这和at the end (of.)类似.当然,在语境中,of-短语常可以省略,这样就有了你这样的问题出现了.：）
