The majority of 是固定搭配 如果是想用plenty of 也行,但是前面不用那个“the”,从聚在表达的意思来看,也该是The majority of ,毕竟plenty仅仅是表示较多的含义,没有“大多数”意思,显然“大多数”医生应该都是反对吸烟的.

plenty的意思是大量的<尤指物，一般不指人〉，而且前面一般不用定冠词the。根据句意，大部分医生显然更为恰当。
