这句话感觉好啰嗦,但是实际上这么说有特殊的作用.
go to the basketball game,去看篮球赛,是真正要说的事,因为主句 I thought 是一般过去时,从句要用过去将来时.用 were going to,相比于 would,有强调的作用.整句可以翻译成：
我寻思你去看篮球赛了呢.我琢磨你要去看篮球赛呢.
另外,was 应改成 were
